The EOC is located at 8122 Kings Highway and is activated when necessary to manage a disaster affecting King George County. When fully staffed, it is manned by representative of most King George County Departments. When it is activated, it can be contacted by calling 540-775-8950 (Public Access). The KGALERT system will be used to notify residents that a disaster warrants the activation of the EOC.
When a disaster warrants emergency sheltering of King George County residents, emergency shelters will be opened and operated by the County’s Department of Social Services. To be admitted to a shelter, you must bring your medication and identification with you. No pets will be allowed in the shelters except for service animals. Provisions will be made for sheltering your pets if you bring them. During an emergency situation, information on shelters being opened can be obtained from this website.
You can volunteer to help operating a shelter when it is opened or by calling Social Services in advance at 540-775-7181, or by clicking Assist in Shelter.
